Gym Use Policies

Our use of county gym space is determined by you. The space has been jeopardized when unsupervised players or siblings have caused damage to facilities in the past. All must strictly adhere to the following rules or they will risk removal from BAYS basketball program without refund:

  • No players are to be left unsupervised at any of the county facilities. If the head or assistant coach from your child's team is not present, players should not to be left or dropped off without an adult over 18 with a current background check.
  • Siblings should not attend practices or games without adult supervision. Siblings who are roaming the halls of the building, climbing on stages, equipment or rock walls of the facilities will be asked to leave. We only have permission to be in the gym part of the schools. This is the biggest complaint from the schools each season.
  • It is recommended that the players use the water fountains at the school for hydration or bring sport cap water bottles only. Sports drinks, Coffee, etc. are not permitted in the gyms. Please remember to pick up your trash. No gum chewing on the courts.
  • Healy's or any type or skate shoes are not permitted.
  • Dribbling basketballs in the hallway or in any other part of the school, other than the gym, is not permitted.
  • In accordance with Board of Education and Recreation and Parks policies for safety and security; all facilities will be locked at all times. At the start of the first practice or game of the day a school staff member will open the door for the players and coach to enter. After that it is that teams responsibility to let the teams in that follow them for that day. It is imperative that the doors are not propped open with any type of object, only opened by an adult. And closely monitored by parents of the teams practicing. It gets cold and waiting for someone to open the door is not fun for anyone.
It is very important that our players, coaches, and parents work together to make sure the facilities are left in the same or better condition than when they arrived, and that no horseplay" occurs. It is imperative that parents try not to bring siblings to practices if they cannot be supervised at all times. Please remember that the gyms we are granted permission to use is a privilege and it is our responsibility to treat them with respect and leave them the way we found them. If not we risk losing the ability to use the facilities and they may be awarded to another organization. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
